In the event of a significant emergency or dangerous situation on campus, UNM - Valencia has a multi-faceted emergency communications system designed to notify students, faculty, staff and visitors including a Network Emergency Broadcast Alert system to Network Users, web page notification and a campus wide warning siren system. Plans and policies are in place such that the University community can be notified of an immediate threat to health and safety, provided that notification will not compromise efforts to contain the emergency.
UNM - Valencia conducts exercises of the campus emergency communications system annually. At that time, the Network Emergency Broadcast Alert system, web page updates and the warning siren systems are deployed.
UNM - Valencia provides orientation to new students, faculty and staff and campus groups and departments regarding basic safety and emergency preparedness efforts. UNM - Valencia has an Emergency Management Committee which reviews plans and procedures on an on-going basis. |
