UNM-Valencia Campus Offers a Variety of Careers in Health Sciences.






The mission of UNM VC Associate Degree Nursing program is to produce responsible, culturally competent and professional Registered Nurses. The nursing program adopts the mission statement of the college is "A quality education-a lifetime of success."


The UNM VC ADN program will develop professional nurses with abilities to   promote, restore, and maintain health for individuals, families and groups within our rural community. The nursing program adopts the campus core values:

Health Education programs consist of diverse experiences with lecture/theory applications, laboratory skill practice, and a clinical practicum.

Each course is designed to prepare students for state or national certification. Clinical practicum hours differ according to the program. Clinical components take place in a health care facility and occur in a consecutive fashion.

UNM offers a variety of health care programs each semester to meet your busy schedule.

The Nursing program/classes will be a two year program. The New Mexico Board of Nursing Approved the program and the first 16 nursing students began on August 2010. Please continue to check this website for future information.

The nursing program is now located on the first floor of the Student Community Center, west of the Bookstore & Wellness Center.

All program prerequisite courses completed
               (ENG 110, Psych 105, BIO 237/247L, HCHS 111, NUTR 244)

“C” or better in all prerequisites*

2.Create an account
3.Register for the TEAS, use "UNM-VC " site and select one of the available dates.


Nursing Student Responsibilities
Up to date Immunization record Inclusive of:

    1. Diphtheria, Pertussis and Tetanus; Hepatitis A; Measles, Mumps and Rubella; Varicella, Hepatitis B series, and Infuluenza.
    2. Tuberculosis test
    3. Physical exam from Health Care Provider inclusive of ability to lift at least 50lbs  without assistance.
    4. Acquire fingerprinting and both state and federal background check.(Cost ~$100.00)
    5. Student Handbook describes responsibilities in depth.
    6. Kaplan Fees $499.00
